Neele Petzold and Alexander Lennart Schmidt participate at CINet PhD Seminar on "Researching continuous innovation - getting in, getting through, getting (it) out"

April 20, 2018

Stockholm, 16-20th April 2018

Neele Petzold and Alexander Lennart Schmidt, both team members of the S2BMRC, were invited to participate in the 14th CINet PhD Seminar on "Researching continuous innovation - getting in, getting through, getting (it) out" from the 16th of April 2018 to the 20th of April 2018 in Stockholm, Sweden. The objective was to present the current research agenda of the PhD to a selected audience of fellow PhD students from all over the world as well as to Prof. Harry Boer (Aalborg University, Denmark), Prof. Mariano Corso (Politecnico di Milano, Italy), Prof. Mats Magnusson (Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden), and Prof. Patricia Wolf (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and ETH Zurich, Switzerland).

During the five days' workshop, participants were taught about research on continuous innovation, the philosophical assumptions underlying the research, the fundamentals of action research, how to publish in high-ranked journals, and were given extensive feedback on their own approach to the PhD. Neele Petzold presented her PhD approach called "Disruptive Innovation as a Process". Alexander Lennart Schmidt presented his PhD approach on “Business model innovation in the face of disruption”. Both PhD candidates got very positive and valuable feedback. From there on, both research agendas are further developed. Now, the researchers are analysing collected qualitative data from >50 in-depth interviews to understand how businesses steer business model innovation in the context of disruptive innovation.

The seminar week also was a valuable environment to build an international PhD network in the field of continuous innovation, business model innovation, and industry change. Thus, ideas for joint publications and research activities were identified.

The seminar participants can look back on a very successful seminar. :)
